And from here the nicest part: drawing for children!
In the year of 2012 Myrjam read an article in the Dutch magazine Zin (= Dutch for meaning / sense) about Dolph Paulsen, inventor of the concept Drawing for Kids in hospitals. For that reason she wanted to take her pencils back out of the cabinet after more than thirty years.
When she left the Academy of fine Arts she bought two boxes of wax pastels at the school concierges' shop. In all those years she never used them. Drawing for children in hospitals should be finished fast and sparks are not allowed to fly around, like normal pastels are doing. So…
Since 2013 she is working for the Foundation Drawing for Children. She has been working in the hospitals of Almere, Apeldoorn, Lelystad (until it was closed) and Zutphen. Now she's still drawing in day-care centres for (disabled) children in Kampen, Oldebroek and Putten and for children in St. Jansdal's Hospital in Harderwijk.
Average time per drawing 10-15 minutes.
A wonderful child!
For Willem, one of a twin whom was lying in a hospital without his little twin sister.
"Oh", said the little boy, whom had placed three lines in Myrjam's sketching bloc with her pencil to make a drawing of it, "I thought it would grow to be a bookcase". It was growing to be a little boy on a fence. So it finally became a book fence!
If you love juggling and the sea.
So many symbols!
Lucas became the train him self!
Pirates always are popular. Especially if they are having a wooden leg and a hook arm.
Maud totally enthusiast about the piano in the music room in Kampen, where Myrjam always is drawing for the kids.
Milan (also in Kampen) always could explain clearly what he wanted…
And this young man explained via this drawing why he often awaked in the middel of the night, screaming and filled with fear. Now his mother understood. But these little ghosts do have only positive intentions!
Pleun is living on this lovely boat!
What can I draw for you? “Shampoo!” Of course…
For the very little ones she often researches the meaning of their names and build a drawing on that. If you want to be excellent in conjuring you have to be very good in having faith. And La Faye is a village in France.
The wind in the colours of Maud.
