And: Writing!..

Writing articles has always been an important part of her work.

When Myrjam was traveling around for six weeks through South Africa in 2016 she was asked to come back to give drawing lessons to a selected group of young talented children in one of the townships. With the intention: “to give them more self confidence…”.

So in 2017 she went back to give drawing lessons to talented children of the groups 4 and 5 of the school in Kurland Village and for drawing with the little preschool kids. Caused by forgetting her drivers license she had to stay for a week in Cape Town and was roaming the city on foot. She saw a young boy living on a rock on his own and later on she met a lady with her daughter who told her her life story. The reason for her friend David to point out that she should consider to write and illustrate a children's book. In 2024 the book is published in Afrikaans, Dutch and English. Each version contains 176 pages and 8o illustrations. Now the book for 9-99 year old with it's important themes (Ubuntu and the differences in culture between the hunter / gatherers and the colonising people) has to find its way over the world to all the indigenous people who were confronted with colonialism and the descendants of the countries who were colinising in those times. 

For the little ones (age 4 -8) there is also published one picture book "Roy and friends" to introduce the main characters to them. In 2025 there will follow more about the dragon in the book, but then as a  little brave dragon with the sorrows and fun you can have when you're between 4 and 8 years old. 

Another childrensbook is published in April 2021: at the request of the HungerNdThirst Foundation I've been drawing and writing a book for children suffering from long lasting severe illnesses and how this makes them feel "How does it make you feel"?
